Find Your Happiness

If only life was that simple, yes?

Well, to put it simply, I believe it can be. It may be challenging to go through finding it, but I can promise you, when you stumble upon what brings you joy, the journey is well worth it.

What things make me happy do you ask?

First, I cannot imagine life without my best friend, partner and husband. He keeps me grounded while making me feel like a princess surrounded by love and support.

Life would not be the same without my kids. I can’t imagine walking in the house and not being attacked at the front door with a dog that is unbelievably excited to see me. Or to sit on the couch and not have a conversation with my cat. Yes, my kids are unbelievably quirky, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. Their unconditional love is a lesson to us all.

Someone has a love for comforters. Kai the protector.

I also love my friends. I know, I know. You’ve heard it before. But I cannot tell you what these people mean to me. One of the keys is finding amazing people, then convincing them you are cool enough to hang around. I keep waiting for them to find me out and kick me out of the club. Until then, I will stand surrounded by the most supportive group of people I have ever met.

*side note, not everyone I hold incredibly dear is pictured. I couldn’t find pictures for everyone, and I stalked pages yo!

The kind of amazing friends who will all spin with you as you train for your first half ironman.

Luke’s crew – awesome people who didn’t laugh when I signed up for a marathon. (Side note, tons of Luke’s people missing)

The most amazing group of frunners. (Also from Mamma C’s facebook page)

My most amazing tri bestie. She doesn’t laugh when I freak out or talk about poop things people don’t talk about. She’s a calming presence and laughs at me when I sing ridiculous songs in the middle of 100 mile bike ride. (Side note, she’s not even ashamed at my ridiculousness) She shows me what strong looks like and I would be a mess on race day without her.

Finally, I’ve found something that makes me happy. These past few weeks I have found pure joy. During my sprint tri two weeks ago, the 100 mile bike ride and the tri this past week, I have all been ridiculously happy. You know why I look like a fool in those pictures? Because of the joy I find in my multisport world. I find it fulfilling, rewarding and the best, most amazing way to help remind me that I have value. The confidence and belief in myself soars when I am active.

You see self worth has nothing to do with the size of your house, your career or your finances. It comes from the conquering of things you never believed imaginable. And then when you spank that thing you never thought you could do? You reach higher.

Always reach higher.

just know you’re not alone, because I’m going to make this place your home

  1. Love, love this blog! Very in line with my own life motto, Follow Your Bliss. Makes me so happy that you are finding joy in all of your athletic pursuits, and kicking butt while doing so!

  2. Hello Heidi,
Just a quick message to ask if you would be interested in a ‘mutual’ following on twitter. I am currently following you now and am awaiting for your follow-back. (#FYI I do RT’s ‘anytime’ for all #Triathletes #Cyclists #UltraRunners & #Marathoners who follow me on Twitter and have something ‘important’ they want mentioned…)

All the very best to you and yours for the rest of 2012 and beyond Heidi. Look forward to hearing from you…
