Getting back on the horse, er, trail

I apologize for my serious absence. I mean it. It tears at my heart not to be able to know what all of you are up to on a regular basis. Let me back up some to explain.

After my marathon in December, it got busy. Not like whew that was fun busy, but oh-my-gosh-I-can’t-keep-my-head-on-straight busy. But I had a blast. My family came in for Christmas which was a very fun week of go-go-go, great food and lots of alcohol.

In the middle of all of this I tried running. The marathon did some serious damage to me. I ran with a limp and my right knee got very painful. For the first time ever I went to a sports chiro to see if there was something that could be done. Seriously, major thanks to ThatPinkGirl who gave me the information, but if you need a sports chiro in the area, check out Dr. Malloy. I was all out of whack, had some scar tissue in my knees and I am weak. So I’ve been going to see her regularly and starting to work on exercises to strengthen my butt and abs. I also got a new pair of shoes. For those that don’t know I’ve been running in Newton’s and I now have a pair of Brooks Launch with some inserts to help my feet. So far I like them. They feel like a LOT more shoe and are heavier, but my knee hurts less afterwards.

I ran the New Years Double on New Years Eve and New Years Day with double half marathons. Seriously the MOST fun at a race I’ve ever had. It was very hard to run both days, but so worth it. Tons of laughter, sweat and frunners. Here is a picture of a group of us that ran together. But it was a great opportunity on a looped course to see everyone multiple times. I couldn’t have asked to start the New Year better, I hope you know how much I love you all and hold your friendships very dear to me.

The day after New Years I went to work for 3 days then my job was over. I had quit in December and worked my way through the end of what I gave them. My new job took me on a 4 day all expenses paid ski trip to Crested Butte, Co. Seriously. I hadn’t had one day of work and here they were investing in my already. It was so amazing to be so welcomed and to become a part of such an amazing company. They truly appreciate their employees and make sure they are thanked appropriately for all of the work they do.

Kayla and I at the Ice Bar on the mountain. Seriously, it's made out of ice.

I got barely two days back to myself before I started work with my new company. I’ve been working long hours 6 days a week. It’s our busy season so I want to pitch in and help, but I’m not going to lie, it’s exhausting me. I’m really enjoying what I’ve been doing. I feel like I’m using my head, learning and making a contribution. It’s hard, but very rewarding.

With all of this going on, I also signed up for the Luke’s Locker Half Beat half marathon program. We meet every Saturday for a run and I get to hang out with some of the coolest people I know. It’s a pretty sweet thing. I can’t imagine running without some of these people. I had such an amazing experience with my marathon group, I was worried I would get group withdrawals. Problem solved!

That pretty much catches you up to date with highlighting the big things going on. Please know it’s been really hard not to know what’s going on with everyone regularly, but I hound Brian for information on y’all every night! Hope to catch you soon 🙂

  1. I miss you too but I’m very happy you are happier now! Hope it settles down soon! Happy running!

  2. So glad you are loving your new position! Of course we miss you on Twitter but taking a break is TOALLY understandable! Sometimes you need to just step away and focus on what is right in front of you without al the extra distractions.
(and you looked so cute in your sparkle skirt!)
